St George’s Terrace Apartment
Robert Rhodes Architecture + Interiors sought to modernize the St George’s Terrace Apartment in London, a home that had not seen change in over 40 years.
Set in the centre of Primrose Hill village on a private street overlooking the park, this beautiful two-story garden apartment was found completely unmodernised – having been in the same hands for over 40 years.
Set across the ground and lower ground floor, the comprehensive renovation programme by Robert Rhodes Architecture + Interiors saw the two-story apartment stripped back to reveal the original building’s fabric, including large sections of original plasterwork and patches of original red velvet wallpaper.
Ground floor rooms were returned to their Georgian splendor, juxtaposed by a bright, clean and modern kitchen-diner which opens onto a terrace garden via a rear Crittal glazed extension.
On the lower ground floor level, accessed via the original Georgian basement staircase, the redesign doubled the lower floor area, making three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large playroom in what was previously a back-filled garden.
