Marcus House

Brandon Architects worked to design the Marcus House with maximum access and exposure to its surrounding views of the water and park in Newport Beach, California.

  • area / size 3,256 sqft
  • Year 2019
  • Type House,
  • This Newport Island home, an exclusive community of approximately 100 homes, is next door to Newport Island Park. The homeowner is Scott Upshall, a hockey player, most recently playing for the Dallas Stars.

Brandon Architects designed the space with three different elevations/views in mind to optimize natural light and views: view of the street—a long view that extends all the way to the water, view of the park and view of the water. The home features 3-stories, with the first floor designed with entertaining in mind, the second floor for living/bedrooms, and the third floor features a rooftop deck, dry sauna, lounge, office, and yoga room.

Additional features include windows and doors by Western Windows & Jeld Wen, paint is “Kynar”, a durable paint perfect for ocean environments, an interior elevator, and a powder room with Billy Joel lyrics on the wallpaper.
